“We service what we sell and we back it up with parts.” – Johnny Schmidt
John Schmidt and his sons, Johnny and Leroy, started the business in 1966 in a 5,700 square foot shop and parts building. Present facilities provide 15,660 square feet of space.
Schmidt & Sons has displayed equipment and attended the Kansas State Fair since 1977. In 2024, we were presented with a vendor award from the State Fair.
After we received the Allis-Chalmers contract the first and only new piece of equipment sold that first year was an Allis-Chalmers 262 LPG irrigation engine.
John Schmidt & Sons began as an Allis-Chalmers and New Holland dealer in 1966. At the 10th anniversary of the business, Schmidt & Sons had completed an additional building and held an open house. More than 500 people attended.
Schmidt & Sons is rooted in the communities it serves and we are fond of being involved in our community festivals. We also support three county fairs and local FFA chapters.
We’ve run antiques and current model equipment in Mt. Hope, Andale and Winfield parades to name a few. Leroy put a gas powered engine on a pedal tractor and the Schmidt kids loved to ride it in parades.
Family business means including current and future generations to appreciate their heritage and plan for their future. We are proud to have three of our four generations currently working at Schmidt & Sons.
Our Parts Team members are dedicated and prepared for what our customers need in a hurry.
As a true family business we work day in and day out together then celebrate birthdays and holidays together too! Wendy and Nancy deliver customer service like no other thanks to the mentoring of their dads, Johnny and Leroy.
The Sales Team at our two locations work tirelessly to provide quality equipment to customer’s farm fields.
